The State Forestry Administration says 25 panda cubs have been born in captivity this year.
Because it is no longer the season for pandas to give birth, there will be no new cubs this year. The Panda Protection Research Center in Wolong alone bred sixteen panda cubs in 2007.
There are 239 pandas in captivity in China and 27 in foreign countries for long-term research cooperation projects.
