Chinese Premier to attend ASEAN summit

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao goes to Singapore on Sunday for an official visit.

There he will take part in a series of ASEAN meetings with a focus on energy, environmental protection and climate change. The meetings will include the ASEAN plus Three summit and the China-ASEAN summit.

Assistant Foreign Minister He Yafei said Premier Wen will elaborate on China's position on climate change and the measures it is taking to deal with the issue. He is also expected to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda. Premier Wen's visit to Singapore will be the first visit by a Chinese premier in eight years.
