Leaders of China, Japan and South Korea met in Singapore on Tuesday to strengthen the trilateral cooperation.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Japanese Prime Minister Fukuda Yasuo and South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun attended the 8th meeting of leaders of the three countries.

At the meeting, the three sides were expected to make concrete proposals on strengthening cooperation, particularly in the fields of environmental protection, science and technology, culture and youth exchanges.

The three leaders might also touch on the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula when they discuss regional and international issues, a Chinese Foreign Ministry official said.

The last trilateral meeting was held in January this year in Cebu, the second largest city of the Philippines, during which the three leaders reached consensus on improving political trust among the three East Asian countries.
