Hamas leader Ismail Haneya has called the upcoming Annapolis conference "stillborn". He also says it's doubtful it will bring any benefits to the Palestinians.

A recent Palestinian poll by independent "Near East Consulting" indicates that 57 percent of Palestinians do not believe the conference will lead to progress in Israeli-Palestinian peacemaking.

Just over 60 percent of respondents said they wanted Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to attend the conference.

Ismail Haneya, Hamas leader, said, "We believe that this conference was born dead and it will not achieve any right of the Palestinian people and their political aspirations."
