Chinese Missile destroyer, the Shenzhen, is scheduled to arrive in Tokyo on Wednesday to start a four-day goodwill visit to Japan.
The Foreign Ministry says the visit will enhance exchanges and cooperation between the two countries' navies. Spokesman Qin Gang says bilateral defense dialogue highlights good progress in two-way relations. The missile destroyer left for Japan last Wednesday. This is the first time a Chinese navy vessel has visited Japan.
Qin Gang said, "The goodwill visit by the Chinese naval ships to Japan is part of the exchange and dialogue between the two navies. We hope this visit will be successful. And we believe the Japanese side will give our ship a warm welcome."
