UN climate chief: The US should be affirmative on Climate Change Conference

Meanwhile, the UN climate chief says any agreement reached at the conference won't make sense without the participation of the US.
Yvo De, Boer, General Secrerary, UN Framework Climate Change Convention, said,"I think that the role of the US in these negotiations is critical. The US decided not to ratify the Kyoto Protocol; the US is today still the largest emitter of greenhouse gases in the world, and I think to design a long-term response to climate change that does not include the world's largest emitter and the world's largest economy just would not make any sense, so in other words, I think that we have to define a long-term response to climate change that is also embraced by the US."
