Russia: "Legal approach" for Kosovo´s future status

EU nations meeting in Brussels have failed to reach consensus on Kosovo's future status.

A spokesman for the Kosovo negotiating team says Kosovo ethnic Albanian leaders will declare independence from Serbia before May next year. And Russia says a unilateral decision would be "dangerous".

Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister, said, "We certainly hope that parties will opt for the legal approach, that does not break the principles of the U.N. nor the final act of Helsinki and which would allow us to keep the current international system intact. And all our efforts go in that direction."
