A new UN security Council session is planned to discuss the future status of Kosovo.

The meeting will focus on a report by US, EU and Russian mediators.

The latest four-month negotiations mediated by the troika officially ended on December 10th without any results on Kosovo's future status.

Kosovo Albanian leaders say there is no point in talking further with Serbia and are ready to declare independence before May next year.

Serbia has rejected to let Kosovo break away, only agreeing to offer substantial autonomy. Kosovo has been under UN administration since 1999.
