They hope to find a solution to a crisis caused by presidential results disputed by the opposition coalition.
President-elect Kibaki reportedly told Kufuor he had initiated a process of dialogue with other Kenyan leaders.
Kibaki has invited opposition leader, Raila Odinga, for a meeting on Friday. But the presidential contender says he will not attend unless an international mediator is present.
Kufuor went from his meeting with Kibaki to a meeting with Odinga in a Nairobi hotel.
Odinga met former African presidents who had come to speak to both sides of the crisis.

Violence and a major humanitarian crisis have plagued Kenya following the disputed re-election of President Mwai Kibaki after the election on December 27th.
The crisis has claimed the lives of 500 people. It has also dented Kenya's reputation for stability in a turbulent corner of Africa. And it has hurt key economic sectors such as tourism and tea.
