International aid needed in Kenya

The International Committee of the Red Cross is struggling to cope with the humanitarian emergency which has gripped Kenya since last month's election.

The ICRC and Kenya Red Cross have appealed to provide additional supplies.(CCTV.com)

Assessments are being carried out countrywide to determine the extent of the humanitarian crisis.

Helicopters are being used in areas which are inaccessible by road.

In response to the extra demands being placed on hospitals and clinics, the ICRC has also distributed medical kits and drugs to treat those wounded in the violence.
