Israel has successfully tested a new long-range ballistic missile. It says the launch was carried out to examine rocket propulsion.

The missile was test fired Thursday morning from the Palmahim Air Force Base in the center of the country.

But Israel refused to provide details on the type of missile and its purpose.

The test fire came after Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Israel will consider "all options" to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

Meanwhile, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad brushed aside the test, saying he was not worried about the development.
