Palestinians have protested against Israel's closure of Gaza.

Hamas says Israel's decision to close off the coastal territory will mean a slow death for Palestinians there.

A human rights group and a UN agency have also condemned Israel.

But Israel says they should direct their criticism at Palestinian militant groups that fire rockets at southern Israel every day.

Sami Abu Zuhri, Hamas Leader, said, "What is happening in Gaza is not a passing ordeal but it is a slow killing not just for one person but for an entire population through this tight siege and through the crimes of killing which calls on everyone to stop this massacre before its too late."
