Passenger flow expected to reach 2.5 billion during Spring Festival

Special Report: 2008 Spring FestivalChina's Spring Festival travel rush started on the railways about a week ago. And now, road, waterway and air travel are catching up. Total passenger flow during the holiday season is expected to reach 2.5 billion.
Chinese travelers made an estimated 52 million bus trips on Wednesday - 16 percent up from last year. This comes as most of the expressways closed due to snow have reopened. Passenger numbers at airports in Beijing, Shanghai and other major cities also increased.
A sea route from Xiamen in the eastern province of Fujian to Taiwan's Kinmen has also been opened.
Weather agencies are working with the aviation, highway and shipping sectors to keep them current on the latest conditions.
