Life in the capital city of Guiyang in Southwest China's Guizhou Province has been severely disrupted by the power cuts. The highest level of emergency has been declared for that region.

Guiyang Railways Station was forced to stop selling tickets on Wednesday morning.

The city's airport had to use power generating equipment to refuel airplanes on Wednesday, but power has been restored there.

Guiyang Coach Station did not suffer any blackouts on Wednesday, but it is fully prepared for an emergency.

Wei Xingchun from Guiyang Coach Station said, "We have one generator which can help us for 2 to 3 days."

Power generating equipment is also in place at local hospital.

An engineer from Guiyang Hospital said, "This kind of generator is small and it's easy to move quickly. It's a good replacement in places where large generators can't be used."

Hospital doctor Wu Shang said, "If anything happened, we will do our best to ensure the power supply in operating rooms, ICUs and medial wards."

Local residents have been struggling with power cuts for several days. They have been patient, but are looking forward to the end of the crisis.

A resident said, "We have had no power for four consecutive days. This is of course very inconvenient and also very cold."

A restaurant owner said, "Our lives has been greatly affected, we can't cook and there are no customers."

The Guizhou Power Grid Company says 8 repair teams with a total of about 800 people have been sent to suburban areas in case repair work is required.

Although the power cut has caused much inconvenience. However, since the Spring Festival is only 6 days away, they still hope that help will arrive soon.
