Leaders´ visits boost morale amid China´s winter-weather crisis

Top Political Advisor Jia Qinglin has been inspecting the disaster relief work in Anhui province since Wednesday. Jia stressed everyone should be aware of the severe situation, and make relief work the top priority. He said local authorities should take measures to fight against the disastrous weather and guarantee people's basic interests and needs.
Jia Qinglin visited hard-hit areas including Hefei and Liu'an. He expressed greetings and gratitude to all the PLA soldiers, local officials and people who have been working overtime on the relief work.
Jia Qinglin also inspected key departments regarding transportation and electricity. He said snow and sleet has brought rigorous challenges to the supply of coal and oil. He urged all parties to work together to guarantee smooth transportation and sufficient market supply. He said the production of natural gas and oil must be guaranteed for residential areas and key institutions. He added safety must also be highlighted to avoid accidents.
Jia Qinglin is especially concerned about the prices of farm produce and other necessities staying stable. He said low-income families receiving their subsidies is also one of his top concerns. Jia called on the local government to put people's interests first, collect information about the difficulties they are facing, and guarantee a happy festival for all of them.
During his visit in Anhui province, Jia Qinglin also presided over a meeting with the local government. He expressed appreciation for all their relief work and encouraged efforts to cope with the difficult situation caused by the severe weather.
