The situation in Kenya continues to dominate talks.

Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki says progress is being made. But he says his position as president is non-negotiable.

The international community is pressing for a power share between him and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Kibaki says he's optimistic that a lasting political solution will be made.

Outgoing AU Chairman John Kufuor is backing former UN head Kofi Annan to achieve a mutually acceptable role for all sides.
