east China''s Anhui Province, plentiful food supplies are keeping the holiday market stable, despite delivery delays. |
Reporter Wang Mangmang said, "This is the largest wholesale market in Anhui Province. We see lots of bargaining and lots of comparisons here. And besides these, we do see continuous supplies coming into the market.
The government is making concerted efforts to ensure continuous supply. And this is important because the farmers and vendors depend on it to make a living and the consumers depend on it to maintain their daily needs. The most important thing about continuous supply is that it ensures a stable holiday market at this particular time."
Delivery trucks are arriving from around the country, the farthest coming from the southernmost Hainan Province. Despite delays, the bad weather does not affect the way things are going here. The produce is fresh, deals are still done.
Zhang Laosan spent two days on the road for a journey that usually takes two hours.
The market is open twenty four hours a day. People can get whatever they want whenever they want. And supplies do not end here.
Wei Yongsheng, staff of Provincial Highway Company, said, "I's with the highway company. We buy vegetables and distribute them to rest areas along the road, so that we can provide free hot meals to stranded passengers."
The market will get busier as the Spring Festival is only 4 days away.
