Presidential candidates have been in overdrive to get their message out before the biggest presidential primary day in American history.

Latest polls shows that the Democratic contest show that Hillary Clinton leads Barack Obama 47 to 43 percent.

On the Republican side John McCain has widened his lead over former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney with McCain holding onto 48 percent compared to Romney's 24 percent.

Voters say issues such as the US economy and the war in Iraq will have an direct effect on their votes.
