China's quality and quarantine watchdog says it found no trace of pesticides in frozen dumpling samples from Japan. And it is calling for more close cooperation between the two countries.

The quality watchdog takes this issue seriously.

This is the third inspection report it has issued. It concerns a test of four different batches of dumplings that were made between June and November of last year.

The result is the same as the previous two: no pesticide.

Wei Chuanzhong, deputy director of Quality & Quarantine Authority, said, "We do not think it is a food safety issue. It is an individual case. And we suggest that the Chinese and Japanese sides establish a joint investigation group in order to find out the truth as soon as possible"

The watchdog says Japan has not provided China with any samples of the dumplings that made Japanese consumers sick.

It also dismissed a report that says a disgruntled Chinese worker deliberately contaminated dumplings describing it as "mere subjective guesswork".

Japan reported 10 people fell ill in December and January after consuming frozen meat dumplings produced by a food plant in northern China.

Earlier this month, Japanese investigators conducted a half-day inspection tour of the company and did not detect any abnormality in the food plant.
