China helped promote a consensus between the Sudanese government, the African Union and the United Nations on sending a hybrid force to Darfur.
To improve the humanitarian situation in Darfur, China has provided material assistance worth 80 million RMB to Darfur, 1.8 million U.S. dollars aid to the African Union, and 500,000 U.S. dollars to the U.N. fund for solving Darfur issue.
Liu Jianchao said, "Words do not help. It is actions that are needed to resolve the humanitarian crisis in the Darfur region. We hope people can view China's stance and efforts in the Darfur region fairly and objectively."
Liu Jianchao said all preparation work for the Beijing Olympics, including the opening ceremony, is proceeding smoothly.
Liu Jianchao said, "I think we have enough wisdom to host the Olympics. The Chinese people are willing to work with artists and scientists from all over the world, with wisdom and talent, to show people around the world a splendid opening ceremony for the Olympics"
Liu also said it is understandable if people are not familiar with the Chinese government's policy on Darfur, but it is unacceptable if they are acting for political motives.
