The Chinese police are continuing an independent investigation into cases of food poisoning in Japan allegedly caused by China-made frozen dumplings. China is also calling for closer cooperation between the two countries on the issue.

China found no trace of pesticide in the third batch of frozen dumpling samples provided by Japan.

The Chinese police authority has put top experts on the case to uncover the truth behind the toxic dumplings.

The team is investigating the food plant's production and transportation procedures.

Chinese authorities are calling for more exchange of information and cooperation with their Japanese counterparts.

Wei Chuanzhong, deputy director of Quality & Quarantine Authority, said, "We do not think it is a food safety issue. It is an individual case. And we suggest that the Chinese and Japanese sides establish a joint investigation group in order to find out the truth as soon as possible"

China is also suggesting the establishment of a long-term food safety cooperation mechanism to better deal with issues like this and guarantee the healthy growth of trade relations.

China found no trace of pesticide in the third batch of frozen dumpling samples provided by Japan.

But so far, Japan has not provided China with any samples of the dumplings that made Japanese consumers sick.

Japan reported 10 people fell ill in December and January after consuming frozen meat dumplings produced by a food plant in northern China.

Earlier this month, Japanese investigators conducted a half-day inspection tour of the company and did not detect any abnormalities.
