Peres says Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah is a threat to the people of Lebanon.
He says Nasrallah is an obstacle to Lebanese democracy, integrity and peace.
His comments come shortly after the Hezbollah leader threatened Israel with "open war" and accusations the Jewish state killed one of its top commanders.
