Bush's backing came on Wednesday one day after McCain won enough delegate votes to decide the Republican party contest.
Bush emphasized McCain's foreign policy credentials and his position of staying the course in facing enemy threats.
McCain says he hopes Bush will campaign for him as much as the President's schedule will allow.
Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton and Barrack Obama are continuing their fierce competition for the number one spot on top of the Democratic Party ticket.
