German official: China becomes heavyweight in world´s economy

Earlier on Thursday in Berlin, Professor Eberhard Sanf-schneider from the German Council on Foreign Relations told CCTV that China is playing an increasingly important role in the world's economic and political arenas, and that the Chinese government has greatly enhanced its image in recent years.

Dr. Eberhard Sanf-schneider said, "China's rejuvenation based on its economic development has been a much discussed topic in Germany. A country with a vast area and a huge population, China has maintained high-speed economic progress for a quarter of a century. It has become a heavyweight in the world's economy, and is taking on a more and more important role in the world's political arena. Only those who wish to keep the old order and maintain their top positions in the world's economy would not recognize the truth. But I think it is a natural development of history and most probably will last for some time. In the past few years, the Chinese government and its leaders have shown more and more professionalism. The government has successfully tackled a wide range of difficulties. More professional talents will be required for the country's future governance. Therefore, it's very important for the current NPC session to initiate some personnel reshuffling in the government."
