She made the remark on Thursday at a press conference which also involved the other seven leaders of China's non-Communist parties.Lin Wenyi says she's encouraged by General-Secretary Hu Jintao's remarks on Taiwan.
The General-Secretary addressed political advisors at this year's CPPCC session on Tuesday.
Hu Jintao has pledged that the mainland will make utmost efforts to do a good job in anything that is good to the Taiwan compatriots and
promoting the peaceful reunification of the motherland.
Lin Wenyi said, "I was at the scene while General-Secretary Hu Jintao was delivering the key speech on Taiwan. As a native of Taiwan, I felt deeply encouraged. I am seeing that the mainland is doing its utmost to push forward the peaceful and stable development of cross-Straits ties."
Lin Wenyi added Hu Jintao's remark has shown sincerity and goodwill.
Lin Wenyi said, "I believe the Genera-Secretary Hu Jintao 's remark will certainly get stronger responses from Taiwan compatriots. Our League members considered his words encouraging while exchanging ideas after the speech. "
Lin Wenyi promised that her League will make greater efforts to further develop cross-Straits exchanges and cooperation.
