Special Report: 2008 NPC & CPPCC sessionsBEIJING, March 20 (Xinhua) -- A senior official of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top advisory body, on Thursday called on government departments and other agencies to deal promptly with proposals from the advisory body's annual meeting.
The 11th CPPCC National Committee had received 4,963 proposals from more than 2,100 members at the just-concluded session on the economy, politics and other subjects, among which 4,663 proposals have been registered after examination, said CPPCC Vice Chairman Wang Gang.
All the registered proposals must be answered by relevant departments by the end of August this year, he said.
The National Committee deals with proposals by members after the session every year and it can take months, even the whole year, for the committee to review and discuss the proposals and refer them to a specific department.
Most of the proposals are being discussed by the committee and the CPPCC rejected some unregistered proposals.
More than 99 percent of the 23,081 proposals raised in the past five years by members of the 10th CPPCC National Committee had been answered by relevant departments.
Many of the problems reflected in the proposals have been resolved and many suggestions have been embodied in relevant policy, regulations, development plans and work of government administrations in the country, according to Wang.
He urged all officials, including those from government departments, legislatures and the CPPCC, to put the proposals on their agendas and handle them with greater efficiency.
The First Session of the 11th CPPCC National Committee, which was held from March 3-14, was attended by more than 2,100 advisors from across the country.
