His country is committed to pressing ahead with its efforts to promote peace in the region. Lavrov made the remarks in Israel during an official tour of the region.

Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister, said, "We will look for what we're discussing with our Israeli friends -- how we all can make sure that extremists do not prevail and that the road to peace is not blocked by any interests which are not related to any long term destinies of this region."
