Special Report: 3.14 Tibet RiotsLeading Chinese experts on Tibet have held a press conference in Beijing to voice their condemnation of the March 14th Lhasa violence.
The general director of the China Tibetology Research Center said researchers in Tibetan affairs are angered and distressed by the riots that broke out in Lhasa on March 14th. |
Lhagpa Phuntshogs, general director of China Tibetology Research Center, said, "The Dalai secessionist clique has been instigating the monks in Tibet to split China in the name of religion for many years. They openly make temples as the base for their secessionist activities, and instigate a handful of monks unaware of the truth to be involved."
A researcher at the center said these criminal activities not only targeted Han and other ethnic people, but also hurt Tibetans in general.
Lian Xiangmin, researcher of China Tibetology Research Center said, "These criminal activities will only make all the ethnic groups in Tibet unite together more closely."
Another researcher mentioned that people with ulterior motives were using the so-called ethnic clash as an excuse to undermine ethnic harmony and the country's national unity.
Zheng Dui, researcher of China Tibetology Research Center said, "China advocates harmony, solidarity, and joint progress between its different ethnic groups. This is China's fundamental position."
The experts are offering their full support to the government to take all necessary measures to maintain social order in Tibet.
