Ganzi is a remote county with an area of more than 7,000 square kilometers. Nearly 60,000 people live here. Ninety five percent of them are Tibetan. Mountainous roads make the county very inconvenient to reach, and basic infrastructure has lagged behind more developed parts of the country.
The quality of drinking water in this village used to be bad. This villager says they had to drink the water from the river, which made some villagers ill. Now the government has helped install tap water pipes to their homes.
Village Head, said, "The government gave each household ten thousand yuan to build and repair houses. Tap water was also made available. And about 80,000 yuan has been spent to build an entertainment center for us, and a 5-kilometer-long road was built."

Liao Caikun, Ganzi County Head, said, "It's important for the government officials to go down to the grass-roots level to get an understanding of the situation. The government provided daily necessities and houses for the local people."
The county head says the government has invested more than 30 million yuan in the past two years to help local people switch to solar power.
