An international human rights forum has opened in Beijing. The two-day conference involves more than 40 scholars and government officials from 32 countries.
The head of the China Society for Human Rights Studies, Luo Haocai, says China is interested in holding comprehensive consultations with other countries and learn from their experiences. He says despite progress, China is still facing many problems and difficulties in developing human rights.
Luo Haocai says the Chinese government never avoids the subject of human rights and has promised to solve problems in this area by gradually improving the economy and legal system. He also criticizes double standards some western countries demonstrate when they accuse China and other developing countries on human rights.
