More world leaders, officials offer condolences to China over deadly quake

BEIJING, May 16 (Xinhua) -- More leaders and officials from around the world have sent messages of condolences to Chinese leaders, offering their deep sympathy over Monday's deadly earthquake in southwest China's Sichuan Province.
Among the leaders who sent messages to Chinese President Hu Jintao are Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, Swiss President Pascal Couchepin, Tongan King Taufa'ahau Tupou V, President of theUnited Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAEVice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Palestinian National Authority Mahmoud Abbas, Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, Austrian President Heinz Fischer, Finnish President Tarja Halonen, Czech President Vaclav Klaus, Peruvian President Alan Garcia, and Grenadian Prime Minister Keith Mitchell.

Kyrgyz Prime Minister Igor Chudinov, Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen, Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek, Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero and acting Prime Minister of Tonga Viliami Tau Tangi have sent condolence messages to Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, expressing their deep sorrow over the deadly earthquake disaster in China.
President of Vietnam's Fatherland Front Huynh Dam, Polish Senate Speaker Bogdan Borusewicz, and Czech Senate President Premysl Sobltka offered condolences to Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
Vice Chairman of Myanmar's State Peace and Development Council Maung Aye, Zambian Vice President Rupiah Banda and Brazilian Vice President Jose Alencar have also expressed their sympathy to Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping over the disaster.
Libyan Foreign Minister Abdul-Rahman Mohammad Shalgam, Latvian Foreign Minister Maris Riekstins, Bosnia and Herzegovina's Foreign Minister Sven Alkalaj, Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic, Slovenian Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel and Guyanan Foreign Minister Carolyn Rodrigues also offered condolences and sympathy to their Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi.
