The 60 Japanese rescuers were the first batch of foreign rescue teams to arrive in Sichuan. Qingchuan county's death toll is now approaching 1,900.
The head of the Japanese team said the chances of finding more survivors are slim, but there have been cases of people surviving even longer, so they won't give up hope. Meanwhile, local residents have offered supper to the rescuers and say they are grateful for their help.
