This new system collects data by satellite. Information is updated every 30 minutes. And the numbers show the water level in the Tangjiashan barrier lake continues to rise.

Tang Yuming, Monitoring Official of State Power Grid said "It takes only three seconds for the sensors to relay the information to our office. It's been working for five days and nights, with data updated every half an hour. The numbers are very precise."

Yao Feng, Monitoring Staff of State Power Grid said "We attach one sensor on three connected tires. It floats on the surface of the water and gets the data when the water rises. Then it's sent to the data center in Mianyang."

The center has been closely monitoring the situation at Tangjiashan. Updates also go to the quake relief headquarters to coordinate efforts for the best possible outcome.
