The 86 tons of aid include 140 emergency health kits, which can cover approximately 1.4 million people. The supplies also include 80 resuscitation kits, 80 sterilization kits and nutritional supplements for children and mothers.

This is the second batch of relief aid provided by UNICEF. The first batch arrived in Chengdu one week ago, including tents, quilts and sleeping bags worth 270,000 US dollars. All the money to purchase the materials was raised by the UNICEF Hong Kong Committee.

UNICEF says it has purchased aid worth 7 million US dollars for China so far. Besides material supplies, UNICEF will also help provide psychological treatment for children and reconstruction of schools.
