CHENGDU, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Earthquake relief materials donated by Singapore arrived Sunday afternoon at Shuangliu International Airport in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, via two military planes.

Ma Zhongsheng, a Ministry of Defense official, accepted the 80,000 U.S. dollars worth of materials at the airport.

The relief provided by Singapore was badly needed and would greatly benefit China's post-quake reconstruction, said Ma. He added the donation reflected the friendship between China's people, its military and Singapore.

The relief materials included tents, blankets, moisture-proof cloths and medicine. The supplies were transferred to the Sichuan Provincial Civil Affairs Department for distribution.
