Chiang Pin-kun optimistic with cross-strait ties

Before embarking on their mainland tour, the delegation of the Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation briefed the local media. The Chairman of the foundation and head of the delegation Chiang Pin-kun, expressed optimism in this chance to further improve cross straits ties.

Chiang Pin-kun said "We hope we will be well prepared for the historical opportunity. The discussions will be the start of strengthening the mechanism of dialogue between our foundation and the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits."

Chiang Pin-kun also said there were plans to extend the discussions in the future to other topics, including charter flights during the Olympics, direct sea links, crime prevention, and the opening of the mainland's financial market to Taiwan professionals.
