Children at the Yunxi Primary School and Hongda Middle School are the first batch to be taught by soldiers inside tent classrooms. The PLA Marine Corps assigned the task to a college graduate, and two soldiers holding masters degrees. They have also become the students' friends.
Liao Yuting, Yunxi Primary School said "I will study very hard and do well in my exams. This will be the biggest reward for the soldiers."
Gao Dong, Commander of Marine Corps Armed Regiment said "As a soldier working in the disaster area, we feel even more responsibility to help the children with their studies, and help them break out of the sorrow of losing their families and homes."
The soldiers say they will continue holding these tutorials until all schools are ready to resume classes. They hope that until then, the children will have also restored enough confidence to carry on with their new lives.
