Tanzanian media lauds China´s quake-relief efforts

Special Report: Strong quake jolts SW ChinaDAR ES SALAAM, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Tanzania's English newspaper The African on Wednesday lauded the relief work and disaster management by the Chinese government and people in the quake-stricken Sichuan Province.
In a by-lined article, the newspaper said of all the natural disasters in the past five years, perhaps none had a far-reaching impact and lesson on leadership and disaster management than the quake that hit southwest China on May 12.
According to the article, the first thing to note was the confident and businesslike manner the Chinese authorities at all levels approached the occurrence of the quake.
Second is the spirit of national unity and national solidarity displayed by the entire Chinese people toward the quake victims, and third was the readiness and willingness of the Chinese leadership to accept and allow a free hand of operation to rescue teams from other countries (and regions), the article said.
It noted the way and manner of the medical sector in the relief work show the efficiency and high level of China's medical profession.
The article also praised the Chinese government's attitude of cooperation with and regard for the international community, recommending to other nations especially developing countries to follow the example of the Chinese people and their leadership.
