Effective measures have prevented any outbreaks of epidemics in the quake zone.

At a temporary residential area in Dujiangyan city, one of the worst-hit areas, doors display ratings of "clean" or "cleanest". The community uses this method to remind the residents to place hygiene as a daily priority. Information about health issues, medical centers, and drug stores is readily available.

Inspections of food and drinks in grocery stores are also frequent. Medical officials say establishing good long-term hygiene is key to epidemic prevention.
