Many of these children had never been to the ocean. So they were thrilled to arrive at the "Ocean Rehabilitation Center" near the Pacific coast, replete with beautiful scenery and various facilities.
One of the first activities was playing fun games with the children led by the Russian staff. The children can look forward to many other activities in coming days, including physical exercise and sightseeing, as well as language and culture lessons.
Lunch consisted mainly of Russian food. To help the children feel at home, the center added rice to the menu to cater to their tastes. After obviously enjoying their food, the children took responsibility for clearing the tables.

Later, the children settled down in their rooms. The older children offered the lower deck beds to the younger one, helping each other along the way.
Their 21-day trip has just gotten underway. By the end of their stay here it's hoped the bad memories of the earthquake disaster will have begun to recede from their minds. And new happy memories -- thanks to the friendship between China and Russia -- will have taken their place.
