Friday's torch relay for the Beijing Paralympics started in Lotus Hill Park in Shenzhen, a city that showcases China's modernizing achievements.
The first torch bearer was Liu Hong, a race walk competitor. She placed fourth in the 20-kilometer race walk at the Beijing Summer Olympics.
