Paralympic torch comes to its final stop

The Paralympic torch came to its final stop in Chaoyang District.

The relay started at 9 a.m. as the 120 torchbearers passed the torch hand to hand over a 5.5km route. The first torchbearer was Xu Yuansheng, a coach from the China Disabled Athlete Olympic Sport Management center. The last torch bearer is Zhao Jihua, the team leader of the Chinese delegation that participated in the previous Paralympic Games.

The torch route started from the Fireworks Square in Chaoyang park. From there, the torch will travel to the Olympic Stadium to be lit in tonight's opening ceremony.

Today's relay began at Chaoyang Park. An international scenic spot that blends Chinese and western garden design and architechure. As a venue of many cultural activities as well as an amusement park, Chaoyang park now also provides lifestyle shopping center, avante-garde pubs and restaurants in Beijing. The Chaoyang park beach volleyball ground was the venue for the Beijing Olympic Beach Volleyball matches.
