In a meeting with reporters, Wang Zhaoyao said a fire alarm on Shenzhou-7 during China's maiden spacewalk on Saturday afternoon was false. He said the alarm sounded because of a sensor error. He also said difficulties opening the hatch were not unexpected, due to the impossibility of simulating on the ground the exact conditions in space.
Wang said the spaceship is scheduled to return to Earth around 5 p.m. Beijing time on Sunday. He added that as China's aerospace program matures, there will likely be female astronauts in the future.
