For a month and a half, the hearts and souls of all Chinese people were bound together as the Olympic and Paralympic games inspired the nation.
On Monday morning, President Hu Jintao, Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee Wu Bangguo, Premier Wen Jiabao and other top leaders paid tribute to outstanding figures who epitomize the diligence and shining achievements behind the games.

President Hu Jintao said, "To hold a successful Olympic and Paralympic games was China's solemn promise to the world. China spent seven years preparing for the games. And the success of the games has greatly upheld the Olympic spirit of unity, friendship and peace. It has also promoted mutual understanding among people all over the world. The slogan 'One World, One Dream' was echoed all across the world. And the Chinese people have realized a century-old aspiration through their perseverance and relentless efforts."
