Iraqis raise reservations over pact with US

A pact allowing U.S.troops to stay in Iraq for three years failed to secure the support of Iraqi politicians on Sunday.

The Iraqi government took pains to say the pact was not dead, but its future is far from certain. A provision under which U.S. troops might be tried in Iraqi courts is being rejected as a major concession to Washington.
