Nine Somali pirates have been captured by the French navy in the Indian Ocean and sent back to Somalia.

French naval forces seized the pirates in Somali waters.
They then destroyed the pirates' boats before handing them over to Somalia's Puntland automonous state.
Pirate hijackings have become commonplace in Puntland in hopes for hefty ransoms paid out by ship owners.
