More French families to receive CCTV´s French channel

CCTV's French channel is joining French's CanalSat live broadcast platform. That allows many more French families to receive CCTV-F.

The group, led by the chief of China's State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, offered congratulations at the opening ceremony.

Wang Taihua,director general of State Admin. of Radio, Film & TV, said, "On behalf of the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, I sincerely congratulate the addition of CCTV-F on the CanalSat live broadcasting platform. I also want to say thank you to all the dedicated staff of the channel and CanalSat for your hard work."

CCTV's French channel began broadcasts on October 1st, 2004. The channel's mandate is to improve understanding between China and French-speaking nations. The 24-hour news channel also provides programs covering cultural, sports, and TV plays.

It was first carried by IPTV services, which only a limited number of French families could receive. Joining the CanalSat broadcasting platform, CCTV-F reaches more families in France.

CanalSat is the largest satellite broadcasting platform in France. It has an audience of over four million.

The service links China and France more closely, offering programs on Chinese history, politics, and culture to provide a better understanding of China. It also pushes forward cultural exchanges between the two countries.
