China successfully sends Venezuelan satellite to position

China has successfully sent a Venezuelan telecommunication satellite to its position above the equator.

The satellite, named Venezuela 1 Telecom Satellite, was carried by a Long March 3II rocket into space from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China on October 30th.

The rocket was produced by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation with a designed longevity of 15 years. It is the first time China has signed a contract for the production and use of one of its satellites for a Latin American country.

According to the Great Wall Industry Corporation, China's sole contractor for such transactions, the country has sent 35 international commercial satellites into space in 29 launches since 1987.
