Clinton, wife of former leader Bill Clinton, has emerged as a candidate for the chief US diplomatic post or another job in the Obama administration.
Clinton has not denied the secret meeting with Obama, but has declined to speculate or speak about the president-elect's incoming Cabinet.
Many experts say Clinton would be a strong choice for secretary of state and would make her the third woman to hold the post after Madeleine Albright and Condoleezza Rice. But the question is whether she would take the job if offered.
