A delegation from the Shenzhou-7 manned space mission will pay a 6-day visit to the Hong Kong and Macao, starting on Friday. |
The delegation includes the mission's three astronauts and a number of scientists. During their trip, the delegation will give briefings on their mission to local audiences and share their space experiences with students.
The delegation will also open an exhibition featuring the Shenzhou 7 re-entry module, astronauts' space suits, and photos from the mission. The head of the delegation expressed hopes that astronauts from Hong Kong or Macao will someday participate in China's space missions.
Zhang Jianqi, deputy chief commander of China Manned Space Project, said, "The second phase of our manned space project is to build a space laboratory. This phase will be finished before 2012. Then we will carry out many scientific experiments. So we will need to send scientists into space. We hope scientists from Hong Kong and Macao will be selected to join in the space activities."
